The thing about Padstow is gastronomy. The famous British restaurateur Rick Stein was born there. He hosted a cooking show on British television. This allowed him opening several food establishments of different levels in his native Padstow: the Seafood Restaurant, St Petroc’s Bistro, Rick Stein’s Café and finally a simple institution with takeaway food, traditional Stein’s Fish & Chips. In addition to Rick Stein Padstow is famous for a special carnival figure, appearing on the May Day. This thing is called ‘Obby’ Oss, and the event itself is called ‘Obby ‘Oss festival. Port Isaac is 16 miles away from Padstow, which is also popular with its delicious food in restaurants.
